Comments:

Married Richard Eckert in 1964, while attending MSU. I worked his way through his BA degree from Midwestern as well as his MA degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX, then his PhD from University of Oklahoma. I received my BS Degree in 1980 from MSU and worked for Wichita County Juvenile Probation Dept. as a Juv. Probation Officer for three years. I then studied for my real estate license and enjoyed working as a licensed Realtor in the great State of Texas since 1986. I retired 9/30/18,.
I served as a volunteer and board member through the years with Wichita Falls YMCA, assisted in organizing Big Brothers and Sisters of Wichita Co. back in the early '80's, worked as a mentor with Partners in Education, served on the board of MSU Alumni Assn. as well as the Better Business Bureau, volunteered with First Step, Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, United Way and Leadership Wichita Falls. While working at REMAX for 10 years both in Wichita Falls and Irving, TX, I volunteered with the Children's Miracle Network & had the good fortune to tour the Children's Medical Hospital in Dallas.
Currently I work with the PETS Clinic(Preventing Euthanasia Through Sterilization), Clay Co. Animal Shelter and I assist with the transport of dogs headed to their foster and/or forever homes. I am active in politics both locally and nationally and volunteer with our local Wichita Co. Democratic Assn. and attended our Democratic State Convention representing Hillary Clinton as a delegate in 2008 and 2016.
Ed and I have enjoyed several road trips since his retirement in 2010, and recently celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary Jan. 7, 2019.

School Story:

I entered my junior year at WFSH after my father was transferred to SAFB from Denver, CO, after having grown up in a military family. It was quite an adjustment after having left my friends and the beautiful mountains of Colorado. However, in time I did adjust! Most of my free time was spent with other AF brats at Sheppard AFB. I did enjoy attending the pep rallies and Coyote football games and was proud to be a member of the class that won the 1961 state championship!
I've enjoyed connecting with other members of the class of '62 on Facebook.

So proud of all your accomplishments Winsome! I'm with you on the ratification of the ERA, (I still have my ERA button from years ago, along with a few other old political buttons). You're one of the few classmates I know of who remains enthusiastic about working for women and change, I only wish we lived closer so I might join you in your endeavors but I do stay involved with our local Democratic organization as much as possible. Keep up the good work! Barb

I think I had a class or two with Chester, didn't get to know him well but he was intelligent and a very nice guy. Sad to hear about all these good people passing away, guess we're in the last chapters of our lives...

I've had the pleasure of knowing Winsome most of my life although we haven't seen each other in person since graduation, 1962. We were in elementary school in Bitburg, Germany, back in the '50s (the Air Force base has since closed), then I was so happy when Winsome joined the Coyote team after my dad was transferred to SAFB.
Winsome, I've said this before but repeating it again, we are so proud of all you've accomplished and still going strong! Although I'm not able to be involved (physically) as much as you are, I'm also proud to be an advocate and volunteer for the environment, women's rights and animals. Keep up the good work and keep the faith - I'm so proud to call you friend!

Sheppard Air Force Base modeling class, 1961. Included are a few from our class of '62, some from Coyote class of '63, and some from Burk High. Pat McAdams is standing to my left and was my roommate at MSU. She married Ronnie Strange who passed away in 2010.
